The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the closure of many visa application centres all over the world. This is because most countries have stopped letting in new immigrants, fearing the spread of the virus. Thus, people could not apply for visas meaning that they could not go to other countries as they normally did. Recently, the visa application centres have started to open up again. Thus, the highest priority was displayed to the people who had already spent their time to book appointments but could not attend them due to the restrictions enforced due to the pandemic.
Even if the centres are opening up again, the pandemic is still dangerous. The implementation of safety measures has been of paramount importance to protect the people who are coming to the visa application centres. Each individual that comes will be temperature-screened before entry. It is compulsory for all that are present to wear face masks while they are present at the centre.
There will be no-contact security screening. Everyone will have to follow the social distancing protocols where each person has to stand at least 6 feet apart from one another. All of the surrounding surfaces that have been frequently touched will have to be disinfected.
Procedure to be followed at a Visa Application Centre
If you go to the visa application centre, these are the things that you will have to do:
- You should try to arrive early for the visa appointment and will have to attend it without letting someone else take your place.
- You will have to bring a copy of your application along with a passport or travel document(at least 2 of the pages should be blank).
- You will also have to bring all of the necessary supporting documentation.
- You should pay your visa application fees once you go to the centre if you have not done so already.
- When you get to the centre, you will have to submit your photograph and fingerprints. All of your digits will be scanned and a digital photo will be taken.
- In case you miss your appointment, you will have to book another one within 24 days of the original appointment date.
Important information regarding the news
This is important information that may be useful to you if you choose to go to a visa application centre for your needs:
- If you gave a passport to a centre prior to the lockdown, the passports will be returned to you safely when you come back to the centre.
- You would probably have to submit a medical report to some visa application centre.
- You should be prepared to have all of the health-related documents pertaining to you when you are moving forward as you may be expected to produce such documents when you are applying for your visa in the future.
- If you want to travel and already have a residency or work permit, your ability to enter another country will be dependent on the entry restrictions of that particular country. Border control measures have been put in place so that people from outside are not able to enter their country. Thus, some non-essential workers will not be able to submit their visa applications during this time.
- There may be cases where you are not able to go to the country that you want to because travel there may have been restricted or banned. If such a situation happens, you will be able to apply for another visa when such restrictions are lifted.
- In case you do not want to physically visit the visa application centre, you will be able to avail of the Visa At Your Doorstep service. If you use this service, trained staff members will come to wherever you want to meet them and complete the visa application process for you.
