5000 immigration candidates have just received an invitation to apply for a permanent residency visa in a draw that was just held in December. The candidates that have been invited will need at least a certain minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score(469) so that they will be eligible to be invited. Thus, there has been a record number of invitations that have been sent out this year.

Express Entry is the name of Canada’s immigration management system for various programs. These programs include Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Federal Skilled Worker Program. If you are a candidate in one of these programs, you will receive a certain score that is dependent on the CRS. You will then get points based on certain factors that we will discuss below.
What does this mean?
If you get a high score, you will get an ITA(Invitation to Apply). This is needed for you to be able to apply for permanent residence in Canada. More ITAs than ever before have been issued recently. The large increase in the number of ITAs that have been sent out is reflective of Canada’s desire to want to get more immigrants there. Most of these immigrants will be coming through the Express Entry system. If there is a tie between certain candidates, the one whose name has been in the Express Entry pool longer will receive priority.
Factors that affect CRS score
There are around 4 different categories that determine the kind of score that the applicant will receive:
Core/human factors
The factors that are included here are age, level of education, proficiency in official Canadian languages, and Canadian work experience. The number of points that can be obtained under each of these fields is also dependent on whether the applicant is with or without a spouse.
Spouse or common-law partner factors
The factors that are mentioned here include your level of education, proficiency in official languages, and work experience in Canada.
Skill transferability factors
The factors that are here include your educational qualifications and your work experience. The work experience that has been mentioned here is not just limited to foreign work experience.
Additional factors
The factors that are here include whether the applicant has a sibling in Canada, their French language skills, their post-secondary education in Canada, and arranged employment.
